Ethnomedicinal study of medicinal plants used by the population of Taunsa Sharif, Dera Ghazi Khan, Punjab, Pakistan

Background: Many human illnesses are treated by plant-based medicines because medicinal plants rich sources of bioactive chemicals. The aim this study was to document the traditional uses used indigenous communities Tehsil Taunsa Sharif, District DG Khan, Pakistan. Methods: ethnobotanical data collected using a semi-structured questionnaire as tool for face-to-face interviews, and group discussions during year 2021 2022. Fidelity level (FL), usage value (UV) informant consensus factor (ICF) indices were calculate relevance described species in terms culture. Results: A total 130 (75 male 55 female) local residents different villages interviewed about 104 plant belonging 42 families. Poaceae Fabaceae dominant families with 14 each. highest percentage fidelity calculated Calotropis procera, Psidium guajava Salvadora oleoides. Similarly, use procera (0.75). ICF obtained digestive disorders (0.80). Conclusion: It concluded that population still their daily life treatment various diseases.
